Description
Designer: Danish design. Manufacturer: unknown. Country: Denmark. Date: 1940s. Material: velour upholstery with beech wood frame. Maximum dimensions: width 177cm, depth 81cm, height 76cm and seat height 40cm. Condition: excellent with only minor signs of age related use, in the form of numerous small pressure marks to the velour, as to be expected for a piece of this age. Description: an elegant danish art deco 1940s 3 seat 'banana' sofa. The sofa is upholstered in mint green coloured velour, with green braiding around the seat edges and back rest, creating a nice added ribbed detail. The profile of the sofa features a subtle curve, thus giving it the banana name. Like the majority of danish art deco seating from this era, the sofa is heavily sprung underneath and is raised upon a heavy beech wood frame. The sofa is also raised on four plain block beech feet to each corner. Purchased in Denmark, this design classic is an original piece of mid century furniture. All items are for sale elsewhere, so may be removed at any time.
