Augustin carrera (1878-1952) spanish painter who spent most of his life in france. Oil on wood panel. Provençal school of painting from the very beginning of the 20th century. Represents a portrait of the painter's wife, an interesting testimony to the artist's pre-pointillist and fauvist period. Circa. 1910-15. Touching composition where we already recognize the painter's paw and his technique while flat material. Signed at the top right a carrera, stamp of the sale of the workshop on the back of the panel. General good condition, a few small superficial scratches. Professional frame in gilded wood. Panel dimensions 46 X 38 cm. Dimensions with 53 X 44 cm frame. An artist close to the painters chabaud and seyssaud, carrera was a pupil of léon bonnat and henri martin. Influenced by valtat, signac and cezanne, he exhibited for the society french artists of which he was a member from 1904. His paintings are kept in prestigious private collections as well as at the cantini museum in marseille in particular. In 1924 he made two ceilings for the marseille opera.
