Description
This copper miner lamp can be electrified. It is of french manufacture in villedieu-les-poêles in the english channel in normandy. A small town that made many objects in copper or brass. You will find below the official logo of its origins: a viking or norman type sailing boat with the inscription underneath, registered trademark garanti villedieu france. The history of the copperworks of villedieu tells that the craftsmen of the 1730s to 1740s used a raw material called "brass" an alloy of copper and tin that they obtained from the melting of debris of old copper objects, to make plates, suitable for being worked again. They thus obtained a material called old copper or "machine gun" ready to be transformed into new objects. This lamp is recent, probably a manufacture of the 70s without losing all its charm. This lamp is in excellent condition and only asks to find a new home, in a garden, or an interior according to your desires. I recommend rather the interior to prevent the copper from oxidizing too quickly and especially if you opt to put a light bulb in it. You can hang it with its hook or simply put it on a table, pedestal table or shelf. It is you who choose its future use.
