Rocking chair in curved beech, attributed to the famous cabineter Mickael Thonet (1796-1871), and which offers the unusual advantage of being sold with his retractable foot rest. The back and seat, with rounded lines, are covered with a handcrafted cannage in perfect condition. This rockchair, the result of viennese work, benefits from a quality wood, an indispensable condition for the realization of this structure in curved beech. Of particular note are the perfect circles, interwoven in pairs, which form the sides of this piece of furniture. The foot rest is removable and adjustable on four notches. It has an oval at its end, reminiscent of the junction between the back and the seat, and swivelling over itself, thus adapting to the position of the feet. The remains of an unwelcomely removed label can be seen on the underside of the seat. This timeless seat, combining charm and comfort, is a true call to relaxation. We can already imagine him rocking our winter evenings with a fire in cheminée. Period: 1900. Perfect condition after restoration in our workshop. Finished only waxed.
