Suspension ball crisscross medium model. Bubble suspensions, with various spherical shapes, add a touch of softness and diffuse luminosity. Designed in 1952 by george nelson, these elegant fixtures rest on a sturdy and lightweight steel frame while forming an airy and delicate ensemble. Nelson was inspired by a set of swedish silk-covered dinging lamps that he wanted to buy for his office. Unfortunately, their price seemed unaffordable. Nelson was a clever and resourceful designer, and he set himself up to create the first set of bubble lamps by spraying a white, translucent resin, a technique developed at the time by the u.s. Army. Nelson drew his inspiration from various simple and natural forms to design these suspensions. The reissues of these fixtures, still made in california, were for the first time offered for sale in the parisian concept store home around the world. Polymer sprayed on a steel structure. Exhibition model, sold without rosette for ceiling. Compatible with an e27 bulb. Good general condition.
