Kai Kristiansen's wall system in Rio rosewood directed by FM Mobler, circa 60. The set is very elegant and there is no difference in tone between the elements. Very good condition, some marks of wear but nothing annoying. More photos available on request. The steel fastening bar comes with the set. Danish designer Kai Kristiansen was born in 1929. Like most great Danish designers, he began as an apprentice cabinetmaker. Around 1948, he began his studies at the prestigious Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, under the direction of the great designer Kaare Klint. At the age of 26, Kai Kristiansen opened his own studio, where he created furniture typically of modern Danish style. Its designs are produced by famous Danish manufacturers such as Feldballes M-belfabrik, Fornem M-belkunst, Fritz Hansen, and Magnus Olesen. Like any respected modern Danish designer, Kai Kristiansen balances teak and rosewood in his chairs, desks, threads and small storage. In 1965, he designed his most famous chair: the No. 42, produced by Schou Andersen. This chair, as beautiful as it is comfortable, with its rounded back and swivel armrests, has been critically acclaimed and is still highly appreciated by 20th century Danish design enthusiasts. Kai Kristiansen's collaboration with Magnus Olsen gave birth to Chair No. 121, minimalist and sculptural. Its modular fm Reolsystem (1957) shelf system for Feldballe M-belfabrik has also received critical acclaim, not only in Scandinavia, but also in the rest of Europe, and even in the United States. Kai Kristiansen's designs were so difficult to manufacture that production stopped. In 2014, Kai Kristiansen collaborated with the Japanese company Miyazaki Chair Company and reinvented its own classic designs, with the Handy Chair, the 4110 Chairet the Paper Knife seating collection.
