Danish teak & wool 2.5 seat sofa day bed by Illum Wikkelsø 60s

Maximum dimensions: width 165cm, depth 84cm, height 80cm, seat height 40cm, and folded out width 230cm. Condition: excellent with minimal signs of age related use and wear. This particular piece is in immaculate condition for its age. Description: a very stylish danish 1960s sofa day bed, manufactured by neils eirlesen and designed by renowned designer illum wikkelsø. The day bed is upholstered in a lightly patterned green wool, with a single heavily sprung seat cushion, and 2 removable back cushions. The piece features two double panels of cane work to both sides of the day bed, this adding a special and original 1960s detail which has survived the test of time. The sides of the day bed can easily be folded down, and the back rest cushions used to extend the sleeping space. The piece is slightly larger than a normal sized 2 seat sofa and can therefore fit 3 people snug, or 2 people with plenty of room. The day bed is raised on a teak and beech wood frame, with delicate join detail to the fronts of the arms. Purchased in denmark, this design classic is an original piece of mid century furniture.
