Description
Terrestrial globe or world map, drawn up by the geographer j.forest, 17-19 rue de buci in paris, scale at 1/ 50, 000, 000, blackened wooden base napoleon iii, late nineteenth century. The card is glued on a plaster support. The globe rotates on its metal axis. This globe is in good general condition. The card has no tears or scratches. There are signs of wear and tear of time but nothing serious. Small detachments around the upper axis at the level of the "icy ocean of the north" (see all photos) Joseph forest (born 1865) was a french geographer and cartographer. In 1886, he founded his publishing house of maps and plans, world maps, globes, terrestrial and celestial spheres, paintings and wall maps for teaching at 17-19, rue de buci in paris and lives at 1, place du 13 octobre in bagneux. Suppliers of schools since 1889 and approved by the ministry of public instruction, he also proposed to his catalog a lighter globe.
