Small cabinet box Japan Art Deco 1920-30

This curious little piece of furniture is made of veneer wood, with rosettes in fabric marquetry on applied tin sheets. The bottom is plywood. Wear and shocks to veneer, tin leaves. The pom poms are tired. Small veneer lift at an angle. Stripes on the sides. Japanese work in the spirit of "mingei": an artistic movement born at the beginning of the 20th century, which re-energized traditional crafts, whose characteristics are to be produced anonymously, for functional use, a beauty of everyday objects. The characteristics that mingei objects must have: to be functional and not just aesthetic - simple, usual and traditional. They allow us to unite aesthetics and beauty on a daily basis in simple gestures.
