Two-seater Louis XVI Directoire-style seating and two chairs

Here is a very nice two-seater bench, rare and in a state that amazes for its age. It is a louis xvi-style piece of carved wood with beautiful lines. The acanthus leaves extend to the hands of the two handles in extensions of the armrests. This small two-seater sofa is supported by four fairly strong sculpted legs. The old-age padding remains as it is, most certainly in hair and springs, a sign of its time. This beautiful piece of furniture of excellent proportion, is easy to insert in different points of the house: ideal in a bedroom, a living room or an office. Although old sofas are often difficult to place because of their length, this one is of a small footprint. Also covered at the back, it can also be positioned in the center of a room and thus separate a living room, a small library or a dining room, for example. The two armrests alone bear witness to the quality of the set. The seat is rather raised, perhaps to correspond to one of its names of "game bench" and thus better dominate the gaming tables. It is a beautiful piece, unusual all the more so in this state of preservation. We accompany this bench with two chairs of the same style and the same velvet which, too, are very nicely crafted, even if they would probably require to be consolidated. Wood and velvet cladding are in good condition, the wood carries just a few signs of time and use. Seat dimensions: width 116 cm X height 82 cm X depth 52 cm. Seat weight: 19300 g.
