Scissor Sofa by Jan Van Grunsven for Ums Pastoe, 1950s

A 'scissor' sofa / settee designed by architect jan van grunsven in 1959 and produced by ums/pastoe, utrecht. Laminated layers of plywood and original grey brown wool upholstery and dunlop foam. Van grunsven worked at the architect studio gerrit rietveld during 1950s -1960s. The frame is in very good structural condition. The foam on the cushions is still useable but is beginning to dry out and harden slightly.
