Old venetian triptych mirror with floral motifs

Period: ca. 1910-1945. This beautiful and large three-leaf mirror will add a great touch of elegance to your interior. It is an authentic venetian mirror with small individual beveled and engraved mirror plates serving as a decorative frame. These plates follow the scalloped tops of the central mirror and the two side mirrors. They have been engraved with floral motifs and are tied with nails with glass flower heads; according to my comparative research, these nails are usually found on ancient murano mirrors. The back (at least of the smallest glass plates) is silvery as evidenced by the marks of oxidation and aging; this is a procedure generally used before 1945. The back plates are made of wood. The two side sheets do not bend completely on the central part, but they bend to serve as a solid and self-supporting base for the mirror. There are two hooks on the back if you want to fix it to the wall (be careful, it is very heavy). State: Good. Two floral nails were missing and I replaced them with a resin copy; they are less transparent than the originals but they are hardly noticed unless they are reported (see photo). The wooden back plate was repainted by a former owner who followed the contours of a previous fastener; it is clear that the mirror was attached to two wooden slats and fixed in this way to a dressing table. There are oxidation marks on the back of small border mirrors that is normal and simply testifies to the fact that the mirror has age. Size: See photo.
