This two-tone wood, contrasting maple and teak, mid-century British-made sideboard is in superb condition with only one visible professional repair. At 222cm long, the sideboard has brass door pulls and a fantastic teak wood grain. It dates back to the 1960s and was sold in the iconic furniture store, Heals of London. It has the original makers label, Everest of Long Eaton, in place and is a quality made, rarely found item. The sideboard’s two cupboards have internal shelves and three generous drawers for plentiful storage capability. It is made of teak and has contrasting maple doors. The handles are trumpet-shaped and made of brass. Everest was a small British company making stylish furniture in the 1960s that were sold to stores such as Heals of London and Chapmans of Newcastle. The company was originally known for its upholstery and supplied furniture for the first class rooms on the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth liners. It began the production of domestic wooden furniture post the Second World War. The first sideboards were probably one shelf on a wall near a dining table used for the plates and food during mealtimes, and distinct from the cupboards used to permanently stores plates and cutlery. This later led to the development of furniture such as sideboards and aumbries that were used for the storage of plates and platters for serving food. This fine sideboard will make a wonderful addition to any home. Dimensions (cm): 222 W x 72 H x 43 D Very good condition, minor signs of use.
