Bukhara carpet

Bukhara carpet, more specifically in the Tekke style, which is the most widespread and emblematic. Characteristic visual elements: Uniform brick red / madder red field, Repeated patterns in regular rows: these are octagonal guls (often incorrectly referred to as "elephant feet"). Likely wool on a cotton warp. Short, dense, and even pile. Quite fine weaving but not very coarse ancient tribal. Light fringes, slightly worn. Likely dating: Mid-20th century, Afghan or Pakistani production, faithful to traditional Turkmen design.
