Iconic Soriana sofa, designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa in 1969 for Cassina, an authentic original piece from the 1970s. A masterpiece of Italian design awarded the Compasso d’Oro in 1970, symbolising a radical conception of comfort and form. This famous sofa is distinguished by its soft, sculptural volumes, lacking a traditional internal structure, held together by the renowned chrome-plated clips, which are perfectly preserved here. The structure remains solid and intact in all its parts, both seat and backrest, indicating extremely limited use over time. The upholstery is made of a thick, luxurious velvet of high quality and is still in excellent condition. Soft to the touch and visually rich, it features refined mélange tones that interact with light in an elegant and profound way. A fabric of a quality from a bygone era, with a strong material presence, traditionally associated with the aesthetics of the 1970s, capable of fitting naturally and versatilely into both classic and contemporary environments. The internal padding is solid and compact, as if it were still new, offering enveloping comfort while maintaining the original expressiveness of the design. A rare piece to find in these conditions, considering it is over 50 years old, combining historical value, craftsmanship from another era, and a timeless aesthetic.
