Oyster plates, set of six, earthenware, Gien

Magnificent vintage set of six oyster plates produced in France by the renowned Gien pottery factory. Each plate is stamped on the underside. The plates are thick and sturdy, glazed with a crackle glaze in shades of brown/dark brown and khaki/olive green. Each plate is divided into sections: six compartments on the sides (reminiscent of an oyster) and a central circle. There is a tiny chip in the glaze; the other plates are in perfect condition. Dimensions: between 24.5 and 24.7 cm, height 2.5 cm. Weight per plate: approximately 680 grams.
