Very beautiful and rare Lava vase. Estimated 1970s. It is from Glit Reykjavik Pottery, which was founded in 1958 by the sculptor Ragnar Kjartansson and is world-renowned for precisely this. They mixed genuine Icelandic lava stone, pumice, and ash directly into the glaze to mimic the raw Icelandic volcanic landscape. This model is a classic and sought-after piece of brutalist Scandinavian mid-century ceramics. 20 cm in height, 9 cm in diameter, and weighs approximately 795 grams. Without chips, cracks, or other defects; the bottom, where it rests on a surface/table or similar, shows signs of use. Will be packed carefully and shipped with insurance.
