Antique saint-amand platter – jane model – docks francs comtois stamp. A charm from another time, signed saint-amand. This deep ironstone platter, delicately decorated with deep blue/black flowers on an ivory background and slightly faded, was produced in the 1920s. Slight art deco inspiration in the lines, and a restrained plant decoration… perfect for a vintage table or as a wall hanging. But what makes this platter particularly interesting is its double stamp: next to that of the saint-amand factory, there is that of docks francs comtois (neighborhood grocery stores with multiple branches founded by joseph mathey and his cousin m. Galland in 1912). End of the docks francs comtois appellation in 1932. This platter was undoubtedly a special order for a loyal franche-comté clientele, via a purchasing center or a large regional warehouse. A beautiful trace of the history of french popular distribution! Beautiful condition, no chips or cracks, with an authentic patina related to its century-old character. Still very shiny. Diameter: 30 cm. Notice to collectors.
